A refreshing onsen with a variety of baths

This onsen is located in the outskirts of Kakunodate, an old castle town famous for its beautifully preserved samurai houses and its cherry blossoms. It is surrounded by rich nature, and is a popular day trip bathing spot for the locals.

Conveniently situated along National Route 46, you can access it from Akita Airport by taking the Akita Airport Liner (Tamagawa Route) and alighting at Kayokan, or by taking a free shuttle bus that departs around once per hour from JR Kakunodate Station.

People with small-size tattoos may enter the onsen. It features two large, spacious baths that alternate for men and women every Monday. There is also an open-air bath, a mist sauna, a jacuzzi, and an electric bath(A low-frequency electric current runs in the bath).

The clear, natural calcium-sodium sulfate hot spring is renowned for its beautifying effect on the skin, and is popular with people of all ages. You can enjoy a relaxing bath while admiring the view of the greenery in summer or the snowy landscapes in winter.

The restaurant here serves a variety of Japanese, Chinese, and Western dishes. Lodging guests can also enjoy kaiseki course meals that feature the simple but elegant local dishes of Kakunodate.

The onsen’s ryokan has both Japanese and Western-style rooms with a total of 27 rooms. While the rooms are simple, the accommodation fees are quite reasonable. The facility also has large and small banquet rooms and meeting rooms, perfect for training camps or company outings.
