Kazokuonsen Yumegurinosato Takenoko

1989 Tamana, Tamana-shi, Kumamoto 湯めぐりの里 竹乃香

100% free-flowing springs in 14 private baths with 37 different tubs

This private onsen bath facility is located within the premises of the Chikusuien onsen ryokan, around 5 minutes by car from the Shin-Tamana Station of the Kyushu Shinkansen. Day trip visitors can enjoy a bath in the famous spring waters of Tamana Onsen.

There are 14 separate private baths built in the sukiya-zukuri architectural style. All of them are Japanese-style rooms with a distinct atmosphere. No two baths are the same, and the rooms feature a variety of bath tubs made with different shapes and materials.

Each room has an indoor and open-air bath. Depending on the room, you can also enjoy a standing bath, a reclining bath, a cascading stream, and many other bath types.

The onsen source has a high temperature of 58.7℃. It passes through a heat exchanger to cool it down to a more suitable temperature, but it flows without added water, heat, or recirculation, so you can experience it in its rich, natural state.

The onsen is a colorless, slightly alkaline simple spring that is rich in radium and other minerals. It has a soft, slippery feel, and will keep your body warm long after you finish a bath.

The spring water also has an emulsifying effect that helps clean pores and exfoliate your skin, leaving it silky smooth. You can especially feel its benefits the following morning after a bath.

Note that advance reservation is not accepted, and guests can use the baths on a first come first served basis. Since they do not have multilingual staff, it’s best to fully understand the usage system before visiting. After a bath, you can buy various drinks at a shop.

This is a day trip bath facility. If you prefer to have a meal or stay in the ryokan, you should visit the Chikusuien onsen ryokan. In that case, you need to make a reservation in advance.
