An onsen lodge convenient as a base for sightseeing in Oga

This onsen lodge is located in the Oga Peninsula, a place famous for “Namahage”. It is the only facility with a private bath in the Oga Onsen Village.

Built in 1963, the lodge has an interior with a retro, Showa Period atmosphere. The place is famous as a head fisherman’s lodge that serves fresh seafood caught using their very own fishing vessel called “Banseimaru”.

Guest with palm-size tattoos or smaller may use the large communal bath. If you have larger size tattoos, please use the private bath instead. You can reserve your preferred time slot at the front desk during check-in.

Note that the private bath is equipped only with a bath tub, and has no shower and faucet stall. You should wash your body in your guest room’s shower before using the private bath.

The onsen is a sodium chloride spring. It has a source temperature of 56.5℃, but it flows directly without added water for cooling. A bath here will keep your body warm for a long time.

Near the lodge, you can find the Oga Onsen Community Hall which holds Namahage Taiko Drum live performances. There is also an izakaya called Fukunoya where you can watch Akita Shamisen performances every night.

Another famous spot nearby is Cape Nyudozaki, known for its beautiful views of the sunset. A convenient way to visit it is by riding a bus service that operates to coincide with the sunset time.

You can email the lodge to inquire about accommodation plans and sightseeing courses. If you wish to enjoy Oga’s specialty Ishiyaki cuisine for dinner, please make an advance reservation.
