Description

A ryokan with milky white hot springs and delicious crab dishes

This onsen ryokan is located in Waita Onsen-kyo, a hot spring village in the Aso mountains with billows of steam rising here and there. It is popular for its open-air bath with a spectacular view of a waterfall.

The onsen here is a simple sulfur spring that has a milky white color and the distinct scent of sulfur. It flows with a high volume continuously from the source. The water in the bath tubs are rich in mineral sediments called “yunohana“.

This place has a dynamic location that offers an exhilarating stay. You will be taken into delightful dreamlike experience a not found anywhere else.

If you want to bathe in private, you can use the semi-open-air private baths. The tubs are operated with coin timers that drain the water after every use, so you can enjoy a fresh bath in the milky springs every time.

There is also a mixed gender open-air bath with a huge 50-ton rock, and a relaxing indoor bath. You can try the different baths to enjoy a fulfilling onsen experience.

This place is located in the back of the mountain far from the sea, but it is also famous for being able to eat carefully selected crab dishes.

The fresh and delicious crabs are delivered by air straight from Hokkaido. You can enjoy their meaty goodness as sashimi, a hot pot, pickled dishes, or other exquisite preparations.

The lodge has 16 guest rooms made in a traditional Japanese style. It’s a great place to enjoy luxurious crab dishes and sulfur hot springs. You can also enjoy the onsen in a day trip.
