Description

An open-air bath with an amazing view of the ocean

This popular communal bath is situated right beside the ocean, and receives around 70,000 visitors every year.

The bath has an exciting location with a view of the Pacific Ocean right before your eyes, and you will feel like you are soaking in the vast expanse of sea itself. You can sometimes even feel the splash of the waves breaking on the coast.

One of the best times to bathe here is during the sunset. You will probably want to soak for a long time to enjoy the the amazing view, but you must take care not to spend too much time inside the hot bath.

Since the bath’s spring water flows directly into the sea, use of shampoo, conditioner, and soap is not allowed. You should also take care not to soak your towel inside the bath.

This place lets you experience the smell of sulfur and the sea, the sound of the waves, and a free-flowing hot spring that is the oldest spring in the 1,400-year old Shirahama Onsen.
