A ryokan where you can enjoy soba noodles and hot springs

This onsen lodge can be enjoyed in a number of ways. You can savor a meal of homemade soba noodles in the restaurant, take a day trip bath in the 5 private baths available for rent, or stay overnight in the lodge limited to 4 groups per night.

It is located in a secluded mountainside around 5 minutes away by car from the famous Kurokawa-onsen hot spring district. It’s the perfect place for people who want to relax away from the bustle of the city at reasonable prices.

The old style ryokan building was built to be in harmony with nature. It has 4 guest rooms and 5 private rental baths (3 outdoor and 2 indoor baths). One of the outdoor baths is quite spacious, letting you enjoy a private bath with a sense of exclusivity.

Lodging guests can use the private baths without prior reservation as long as they are vacant. You just have to hang the “Reserved” sign at the entrance. Three of the five baths are usable 24 hours a day, so you can enjoy a bath whenever you want, for as many times as you please.

The slightly murky, mineral-rich spring water contains metasilicic acid which help moisturize the skin. It can also help beautify your skin by repairing ceramide. You can feel your skin become silky smooth after a bath.

For dinner, you can enjoy a kaiseki course meal that features basashi(horse meat), Higo-ushi beef, fresh vegetables, and other local Aso ingredients. Of course, you can also enjoy their specialty homemade soba noodles.

The soba restaurant makes two types of noodles: thin noodles for cold soba dishes like zarusoba, and thicker noodles for hot soba dishes. They are served in a savory soup or dipping sauce made from “kaeshi” and various bonito flakes, then topped with freshly grated wasabi. You can visit at lunch time just to enjoy the soba.

This place lets you enjoy a luxurious retreat in the midst of beautiful nature, with fabulous food, special soba noodles, and refreshing hot springs.
