Yunoyado Irifune

834-2 Ozato, Aso-shi, Kumamoto 湯の宿 入船

A modern onsen ryokan where you can enjoy delicious meals and 5 private baths

This stylish ryokan is located in Aso Uchimaki Onsen, one of the best hot spring towns in Japan. It is a place where you can enjoy free-flowing hot springs and delicious food.

It is situated in a quiet area with rich nature, some distance away from the large hotels in the center of the hot spring district.

Guests with tattoos may not use the public indoor and open-air baths, but can enjoy the onsen in the ryokan’s five private baths. All the baths are pumped with a mineral-rich natural spring that flows continuously from the source.

Lodging guests can use the private baths for free. There are no reservations for the baths, so you can use them as much as you want whenever you want during your stay, as long as they are vacant.

One of the 5 private baths is called “Kazan-seki” which has a spring quality that is different from the other baths. You should try out several baths to experience the difference firsthand.

Among the 8 guest rooms, there is one “Detached special room with indoor bath”, and two “Designer’s rooms with open-air bath”, so you can also choose to enjoy the free-flowing spring in your room.

The indoor bath in the detached special room can accommodate up to 3 adults. You can even stretch your arms and legs while soaking in the high quality spring. This guest room also features a luxurious koi pond.

The Designer’s room has an attached open-air bath that is surrounded by verdure. You can enjoy a bath in the onsen in your own time while admiring the view of a garden that is illuminated at night.

The ryokan is also popular for its meals that feature homegrown vegetables, rice from the landlady’s ancestral home, and other safe and fresh ingredients homecooked into delicious dishes.

For the standard dinner course, you can enjoy local Kumamoto specialties like basashi horse meat and Higo beef. You can also choose a special gourmet plan to enjoy a deluxe kaiseki course meal.

This ryokan may be small, but the owners provide a warm hospitality and service with an attention to detail. Come here to spend a blissful time enjoying excellent hot springs and cuisine together with your loved one.

The private baths can also be used by day trip guests. Depending on the room, it costs between 1,200 to 1,600 yen for a 50-minute use.
